Purpose: EndoArt, a synthetic endothelial substitute for corneal edema, often requires multiple rebubbling procedures because of high detachment rates. This study reports 2 cases of spontaneous EndoArt reattachment, suggesting a potential alternative management approach. Methods: Two patients with endothelial dysfunction underwent EndoArt implantation. Both experienced partial detachment postoperatively. Although rebubbling was considered, a conservative approach was taken, leading to spontaneous reattachment. Serial anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) monitored graft adherence and corneal thickness. Results: Spontaneous reattachment occurred within 2 to 6 weeks, accompanied by progressive corneal thinning and clarity improvement. No further intervention was required, and reattachment remained stable for 6 to 8 months. These cases challenge the notion that all EndoArt detachments necessitate immediate rebubbling. Conclusions: This is the first report of spontaneous EndoArt reattachment. Although rebubbling remains standard practice, observation may be a viable option in select cases, reducing the need for additional procedures. Further studies are needed to refine management strategies and improve outcomes.

Abstract Background Mangroves are hotspots of carbon sequestration in transitional zones between marine and terrestrial ecosystems. Microbially driven dark carbon fixation (DCF) is prominent in sediments, yet our understanding of the DCF process across this continuum remains limited. In this study, we explored DCF activities and associated chemoautotrophs along the sediment depth of different mangrove sites in Fujian Province, China, using radiocarbon labeling and molecular techniques. Results Our results showed that the DCF rates ranged from 0.02 to 3.27 mmol C m−2 day−1 in all samples, showing a depth-dependent spatial variation. These rates of DCF were closely related to the environmental factors such as DIC, TS, AVS, NH4 +, NO3 −, and NO2 −. Metagenomic analysis revealed six carbon-fixing pathways, with the Calvin-Benson-Bassham (CBB) cycle and Wood-Ljungdahl (WL) pathway being predominant. Further analysis of MAGs revealed that Gammaproteobacteria, Desulfobacteria, and Campylobacteria were the most abundant carbon-fixing groups. Intriguingly, some new lineages were found to have carbon-fixing potential, including two candidatus taxa JAJVIF01 and BMS3Abin14. Metatranscriptomic analyses confirmed that these carbon-fixing microbes were active in situ and occupied different niches. In the surface layers, Gammaproteobacteria with the CBB cycle played an important role in DCF, mainly driven by sulfur and hydrogen oxidation with oxygen reduction; in the deeper layers, Campylobacteria with the reductive tricarboxylic acid (rTCA) cycle and Desulfobacteria with the WL pathway were active members for DCF, mainly through sulfur, hydrogen, and CO oxidation. While in the deepest layers of 18–20 cm, methane-producing archaea Methanosarcinia was the essential member driving DCF. In addition, most taxa containing the WL pathway displayed a mixotrophic lifestyle corresponding to flexible carbon acquisition strategies. Conclusions Overall, this study provides new insights into the understanding of biological carbon fixation and its ecological functions in mangrove sediments.

Background: Simplification of antiretroviral regimens has the potential to improve both patient-reported outcomes (PROs) and therapeutic adherence in people living with HIV (PLWH). Dual therapy with dolutegravir (DTG) plus lamivudine (3TC) demonstrated good safety and efficacy, but its impact on PROs remains to be documented. Objectives: To evaluate PROs among adult PLWH switching from standard multi-drug therapy to the DTG/3TC combined therapy Dovato ® . Design: A non-comparative, 6-month observational study in 25 French medical centers. Methods: Sociodemographic and biomedical data were collected from medical records and PROs from self-administered questionnaires at treatment switch (Day, D0) and at months (M) 1 and 6. Primary endpoints included changes between D0 and M6 in perceived toxicity, treatment acceptability, PLWH’s preferences, and the score value of the treatment impact dimension of health-related quality of life (HRQL) (PROQOL-HIV) during follow-up. Secondary endpoints encompassed scores in other HRQL dimensions and self-reported symptoms. Multivariable standard and mixed-effects linear regression models were used to identify factors associated with PRO values and changes over time. Additionally, binary logistic regression was used to identify factors associated with the discontinuation of combined DTG/3TC regimen. Results: In the study population (260 PLWH, 64.6% male, mean ± SD age: 51 ± 12 years, 16 ± 10 years since HIV diagnosis), 20 individuals stopped treatment during follow-up, without resumption. Men, individuals previously receiving abacavir/3TC/DTG, and those with better daily comfort and perceived treatment efficacy were less likely to stop treatment. Treatment impact-related HRQL, acceptability of treatment, and number of self-reported symptoms significantly improved at M1 and M6. Mental and cognitive HRQL improved at M6. Conclusion: Dolutegravir and lamivudine dual oral therapy improved several dimensions in HRQL and delivered a simplified treatment regimen designed for eligible patients, supporting a patient-centered approach to managing HIV care. Attention should be maintained on the reasons for treatment discontinuation, especially among women. Trial registration: Patient-Reported Outcomes HV BItherapy (PROBI) was registered as number NCT04788784 on https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT04788784?term=PROBI&rank=2 .
