Abstract We conducted the largest genome-wide meta-analysis of borderline personality disorder (BPD) to date, with a discovery sample of 12,339 cases and 1,041,717 controls, and a replication study of 685 cases and 107,750 controls (all participants of European ancestry). We identified 11 independent associated genomic loci, and nine risk genes in the gene-based analysis. We observed a single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) heritability of 17.3% and derived polygenic scores (PGS) predicted 4.6% of the phenotypic variance in BPD on the liability scale. BPD showed the strongest positive genetic correlations with GWAS of posttraumatic stress disorder, depression, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, antisocial behavior, and measures of suicide and self-harm. Phenome-wide association analyses using BPD-PGS confirmed these associations and additionally revealed associations with general medical conditions including obstructive pulmonary disease and diabetes. The present analyses highlight BPD as a polygenic disorder, with the genetic risk showing substantial overlap with psychiatric and physical health conditions.

Abstract Background The World Health Organization recommends 2 doses of human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine for adults without human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) but 3 doses in persons with HIV. There are no immunogenicity data on the 2-dose schedule in women with HIV (WWH). Methods This was a prospective study comparing 2 doses (months 0 and 6) versus 3 (months 0, 2, and 6) doses of 9-valent vaccine (Gardasil 9, Merck Sharp & Dohme) in WWH (15–40 years), on antiretrovirals with HIV RNA <400 copies/mL, enrolled during 2018–2021. After an open-label phase assessing safety (n = 45 receiving 3 doses), participants were randomized between 2 or 3 doses. Primary outcome was noninferiority of 2 doses compared to 3 doses for seroconversion against all vaccine genotypes. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 100 WWH, instead of initially planned 120, were randomized. The trial was further amended to give 2 doses to all participants enrolled thereafter (n = 22). Results were analyzed in modified intention-to-treat (mITT) on the randomized cohort (n = 100) and per protocol on the whole cohort (n = 167). Results Participants’ median age was 35 years, median CD4 count was 649 cells/µL, and 16 missed the month 7 visit. In mITT, seroconversion was 97.7% for 2 doses and 97.9% for 3 doses, meeting the predefined noninferiority criteria. At month 7, antibodies titers against all vaccine genotypes were high in both groups (increase by 1.2–2.4 log10). There were no serious adverse events; participants with 3 doses experienced local reactions more frequently (82% vs 60% for 2 doses, P = .027) with more symptoms and longer duration. Conclusions In women with well-controlled HIV, 2 doses of 9-valent HPV vaccine is noninferior to 3 doses in terms of seroconversion and is associated with less reactogenicity. Anisotropic flow and radial flow are two key probes of the expansion dynamics and properties of the quark-gluon plasma (QGP). While anisotropic flow has been extensively studied, radial flow, which governs the system’s radial expansion, has received less attention. Notably, direct experimental evidence for the global and collective nature of radial flow fluctuations has been lacking. This Letter presents the first measurement of transverse momentum ( p T ) dependence of radial flow fluctuations ( v 0 ( p T ) ) over 0.5 < p T < 10 GeV and demonstrates its collective nature using a two-particle correlation method in Pb + Pb collisions at s NN = 5.02 TeV . The data reveal three key features supporting the collective nature of radial flow: long-range correlation in pseudorapidity, factorization in p T , and centrality-independent shape in p T . The comparison with a hydrodynamic model demonstrates the sensitivity of v 0 ( p T ) to bulk viscosity, a crucial transport property of the QGP. These findings establish a new, powerful tool for probing collective dynamics and properties of the QGP.
